WWE NXT - Aliyah vs. Peyton Royce

On April 5th. 2017, two of my favorite WWE NXT Divas clashed, Aliyah and Peyton Royce
Well I say two of my favorites, but actually I like most of the NXT ladies.
Peyton of course is very popular and I think Aliyah should get more love than she does.
Though she has only been wrestling for 4 years, she is a great jobber, a skill that is kinda looked down on today.
But a classic jobber has to make you think that they may actually win a match to draw you in well and she does.
And of course Payton plays the dominating Diva perfectly when she has the advantage, so the two play very well off of each other.

NXT Women's Champion Paige

Saraya-Jade Bevis aka Britani Knight aka the current NXT Women's Champion...Paige.
Yeah I know it's not been that long since I did anything on her, but I would really rather focus on women that actually know how to wrestle as opposed to the ones that...well you know...don't.

In case you may have missed it, Paige is part of a British wrestling family that rivals the Hart Dynasty.
Her mom is Sweet Saraya (former Shimmer Champion among other titles), her dad is Ricky Knight (a well known wrestler turned promoter), and her older brothers Roy (Zebra Kid) and Zak (Zak Zodiac) are both professional wrestlers.

Before ever getting to the WWE Paige held a lot of titles.
She was the German Stampede Wrestling Ladies Champion, she held the Herts & Essex Wrestling Women's Championship (twice), she held the Premier Wrestling Federation Ladies Tag Team Championship with her mom, she held the Pro-Wrestling: EVE Championship, the Real Deal Wrestling Women's Championship, the Swiss Championship Wrestling Ladies Championship, the World Association of Women's Wrestling British Tag Team Championship and the WAWW Ladies Hardcore Championship and the World Association of Wrestling British Ladies Championship.

Not just another pretty face by any means.

Wrestlicious Review

I watched the premiere episode of the all female wrestling promotion Wrestlicious last night.

My thoughts......

Okay, without commercials, the show is about 20 minutes.
The first almost five minutes were taken up with the "GLOW style" rap.
I realize this is the pilot, so maybe that won't be the norm, maybe it was just to get you introduced to the characters.
If you notice, most TV shows today have very short intros, or none at all.
I would suggest a much shorter intro.

Then we had a bad GLOW/Hee-Haw type sketch.
Then more dancing and singing with Kandi Kisses (Lizzy Valentine).
I never thought I would say this...but where's Jillian Hall when you need her?
At least she gets interrupted and stopped.
Well they did stop the singing.....

Then we had a swimsuit shoot with Autumn Frost (Jennifer Blake).

Then finally at about the 10:00 mark, we had the first match which was Toni the Top ( Nikki the New York Knockout) versus "Maui".
Is it my imagination or is their ring smaller than regulation?
Or is it the thick pink ropes that make it look that way?
Barbie's Malibu Dream Ring?

Anyway the match was less than two minutes long.
I wont complain about how short the WWE Diva matches are anymore.

Then a sketch.
Then another sketch.

I have to point out here I like Bandita.
Maybe it's because she reminds me of Spanish Red.

Then finally about 12 minutes in, we have the six woman tag team event with Maria Toro (Mercedes Martinez), Bandita, and Felony (Rain) versus Tyler Texas (Lorelei Lee), Cousin Cassie, and Charlotte (Amber O'Neal).
It started out with a lot of over selling and not very impressive wrestling moves.
I think that even though Bandita is a model she might have that "something" that could be trained into a watchable performer in the ring.

BUT, when Felony (Rain) and Tyler Texas ( Lorelei Lee) got into the ring, as JR would say, business picked up.
They proved that even with the silly Halloween costumes and senses assaulting ring, their wrestling skills still showed through.
Now we have our first decent length match.
Classic old school heel ending, and my interest started to pick up just as they went off the air.

I know this is just the first episode, but this needs to be over-hauled big time to be successful.

First I would cut way down on the sketches and singing/dancing.
GLOW had the GLOW Rap, but it only lasted a few seconds (not minutes) before each match.

Two, if you have to have costumes...fine.
Just take them off before the match.
Wrestlicious could easily bring back the sexy one piece wrestling outfit.
Cut right, the suits could be very flattering on these women, without going too far.
Again I go back to Spanish Red.
Remember how hot she looked in a one piece and wrestling boots?
Okay, now I sound like a fashion critic.

Three, fix the ring.
If you want pink ropes, that's cool, but make them regulation ropes so it doesn't look like a Foxy Boxy ring from the 80s.

Four, back to the characters...
In the beginning of women's wrestling, we had women that could wrestle, but weren't that hot.
Then we got hot women that usually couldn't wrestle.
But we are in the 21st century now.
We can have women that are hot, and can wrestle.
You can have the outrageous characters outside the ring, just have them become all business when they get in the ring.

Like I said, I know this is the premier episode and they are getting things fine tuned.
I'll give em that.
Heck, I didn't like the first three episodes of Josh Wedon's Dollhouse, but it got better.

But I keep thinking, instead of creating this, why didn't JV Rich just take his money and back a SHIMMER syndicated wrestling show?

Interview With Female Wrestler Kristin Flake

Wow...when I did my first Q and A with female wrestler Pink, I didn't think the interviews would be that popular.
But then I got another with Juliet the Huntress and now I'm honored to have another with an indy female wrestler who wrestles in my home state...
Today's Q&A is with Kristin Flake, a wrestler in North Carolina.

So without further ado, here it is....

First...how would you like to be addressed?
Kristin Flake....its both my work name and my real name :-)

Height: 5'5
Weight:135
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Green

Where were you born?
Gainesville, Fl.

When were you born?
August 5th

What made you get into wrestling?
I became a fan at the age of 12, and was immediately hooked by the athleticism and spectacle of it all. And knew that I had to get involved.

Who trained you?
I trained with Dory Funk Jr, for a very short time in my teens. I then took several years away for school and to rehab a back injury. When I decided to start full-time in the ring, Kamakazi Kid started training me at the CWF school in Burlington, NC. I also worked there with Jeff Rudd. And I credit Amber O'Neal and Persephone for training me as far as performance at actual shows.

When and where did you make your wrestling debut?
As a valet....at CWF Mid-Atlantic in 2003, I think. As a wrestler....at NWA Mid-Atlantic, in Sept or Oct of 2007.

What's your wrestling style?
Technical.

What type of outfit do you usually wrestle in?
I like to switch things up. Typically you'll see me in something that is pink and black. Sometimes a skirt, others shorts with fishnets. It just depends on my mood that day.

Do you have a gimmick?
I tend to be that sweet innocent face, that is until you make me mad ;-)

What was your biggest win?
Even though it was declared a no contest....I'd hafta say the First Blood match I had back in May of 09. Id never done anything hardcore at all, and it was fun to test my willpower.

What was your worst loss?
Same as biggest win :-)

What's your favorite type of match?
Any match that pushes me to be my best, I love a match that is technical and tells a good story.

Whats your favorite holds moves etc?
I love interesting chain wrestling.

Whats your finishing move?
Front facelock Buster.

Who have you tagged with?
Amber O'Neal, Persephone

Who have you feuded with?
Amber O'Neal, Persephone, Steffi

What's your best moment so far in wrestling?
There's been SO many. Anytime that the crowd is really into it.

Who are your favorite wrestlers?
Sarah Stock, Sting, Evan Bourne

Whats your goal in wrestling?
To just keep traveling, getting better and have a good time.

Whats the best way for fans to keep up with you?
Through MySpace at either:
www.myspace.com/tricepextension
OR
www.myspace.com/kflakefanspace

Anything you'd like to add?
Please check out the MySpace sites, there is lots of info on them including my wrestling schedule, blog updates and how to buy merchandise.

And I would like to thank Kristen for taking the time out to do this.
Again, these are some of the hardest working women in wrestling today, so when they are in a event near you, go out and show your support!

WWE Diva News and Updates

trish stratus photos

"The Wai-In" has a two part interview posted on YouTube with former WWE Diva Trish Stratus.
Trish talks about her yoga studio, pro wrestling and more.
You can see part one here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heDM7gAnyKo

Trib.com has an article up about Torrie Wilson and her being on "I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!" on NBC.
I hope she does better than Ashley Massaro did on "Survivor: China".
You can read the full article here

Speaking of Ashley, I missed her birthday on May 26th.
So HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASHLEY!

Indy wrestler Serena Deeb is still a maybe with the WWE.
She appeared on an episode of ECW on Sci Fi, but has yet to sign a developmental contract.
Serena has worked for Shimmer and Ohio Valley Wrestling and in OVW she has held the Women's Championship six times.

And while they are trying to get one diva into the WWE another has been sidelined for nine months.
Jenny Quinn, a WWE developmental women's wrestler in Florida Championship Wrestling tore her anterior cruciate ligament and will be out rehabing it.
Jenny is known as "Fifi" and Jenny Cash in FCW.
You can keep up with Jenny at her MySpace page here.

WWE SmackDown! Diva Eve Torres is taking classes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the Gracie Academy in Los Angeles, California, as are several of her fellow Divas.
You don't think the WWE read what I posted on my other blog about turning the Divas division into submission style wrestling seriously do you?
If so...where is my writers fee?
LOL

In it's "WWE Outside The Ring And More...." section, there is an article about Mickie James touring the garden of 9-year-old Sarah Lindauer.
Sarah is the latest "WWE Community Champion."

WWE Divas Mickie James and Maryse

mickie james, maryse, wwe, wrestling

For the second straight week in a row on WWE Raw, four time ex WWE Women's Wrestling Champion Mickie James pinned the current Diva's Champion Maryse.
This time was in a tag team, but Mickie still scored the pinfall.
Will Mickie be wearing the belt around her waist soon?
Everyone likes Mickie.
Even when she was doing the "Psycho Mickie"storyline with Trish, she got huge pops, even bigger sometimes than the Golden Girl Trish herself.
And Mickie has paid her dues.
She started wrestling in 1999 and wrestled for Indy wrestling promotions, TNA and OVW before finally landing in the WWE in 2005.
The current series of matches with Maryse at house shows and on TV are really getting attention.
To be fair though, one half of the reason Mickie is looking so good is Maryse.
Maryse has come a long way from Miss Hawaiian Tropic Canada in 2003.

This may sound strange, but as much as I like Mickie, I hope she doesn't get the belt quickly.
I hope we get to see a really good feud.
It doesn't have to be the "old school" six month to a year draw out program, but I would like to see some real build up.
I personally think it would be a good idea to have the title change hands in August at SummerSlam.

Interview With Female Wrestler, Pink

I didn't really know what blog to post this to, since I have a blog for basically Indy wrestlers and two for Lucha Libre, but the title of this blog is "The Beautiful Women of Wrestling" so this fits fine here.
I've done a few entries on Luchadora Pink on my Lucha blogs, but I was lucky enough to run across her on MySpace, contacted her and she agreed to do a little Q&A form so I could post it and let everyone learn about this lovely young lady.

So without further ado, here is Pink herself....

Eyes: Dark Brown
Where were you born: San Antonio, TX

Who are your favorite wrestlers?
Manny Fernandez, Princesa Sugey, Jazz

Whats your goal in wrestling?
To wrestle everyday that I am physically able and to make it my sole means of income, whether I am on the road in Mexico/US or under contract with one of the big companies.

Whats the best way for fans to keep up with you?
myspace.com/llf_pink, fotolog.com/llf_pink

Anything you'd like to add?
I think you do a wonderful job spotlighting female fighters in general. I am grateful for you taking the time to put it all together.

And I would like to thank Pink for taking the time out to do this.
The Indy wrestlers of today harken back to the days of Mildred Burke and the other greats.
And they deserve a lot of respect.
Show your support and go see these talented performers when they're in your area.

Brooke Hogan Wrestling?

" Let me tell you something sister! "

Okay, I know she's not a female wrestler.
But there's a rumor that Brooke Hogan may actually wrestle Ric Flair's son, Reid Flair, in a circus tent after the last show of the day by Circus Hollywood at the Florida State Fair. She's going to be there shooting an episode of her VH1 show "Brooke Knows Best".
Brooke?
Wrestling?
Well, she's got the genes, she's got the build.
And she has hinted at possibly wrestling before in an interview.
Could we see Hulkamania running wild in the Women's Wrestling division of the WWE?
Who knows? But it got my imagination going.......
Imagine Brooke debuting in the WWE (after extensive training by her dad of course) as a face.
Good little Brooke has a few matches and loses.
Then one night her father accompanies her to ring side and during the course of the match "accidentally" interferes giving Brooke the win.
The next week it happens again, but this time more flagrant and then everyone sees the heel turn.
Brooke as a female version of the nWo Hogan.
But it doesn't stop there.
Remember back at Starrcade in 1997, when Bret Hart accused referee Nick Patrick of fast-counting for Hogan in the Sting / Hogan WCW World Heavyweight Championship match?
Remember the match restarted with Hart as the ref and Sting won?
Well the WWE could spin that into a "Hollywood Brooke Hogan" feud with Bret Hart's real life niece, Natalya.
Imagine a WWE PPV or even a Wrestlemania with "Hollywood Brooke Hogan" accompanied by Hulk Hogan against Natalya seconded by Bret Hart!

And I'm STILL not writing for the WWE.......

WWE Smackdown Divas Natalya, Victoria and Michelle McCool

And now for some WWE Wrestling Rumors....

There's a rumor floating around the WWE that the legendary pro wrestling faction, the Hart Foundation may actually be coming back.
If you recall, a few years ago the idea was pitched and Chris Benoit was working with some of the members getting them ready.
Slam Wrestling brought the idea back up in an interview with WWE Smackdown Diva Natalya, whose reply was "You'll just have to wait and see.".

PWinsider.com is reporting that rumors are also floating around about WWE Diva Victoria retiring and actually having given the WWE a retirement date.
I think I mentioned that back in October.
Yeah I did.
Since I'm so good at predicting the future...." VICTORIA WILL NOT RETIRE AND SHE WILL BECOME THE NEW WWE WOMEN'S WRESTLING CHAMPION!"
Let's see how that does.....

Also, WWE Diva's Women Champion Michelle McCool has stated that her "Wings of Love"(a lifting sitout double underhook facebuster) finishing move was banned by the WWE.
COOL!
A banned Diva's wrestling move!
Heck, I always thought the " Widow's Peak" looked like it could kill you.

WWE Divas Survivor Series match

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Beth Phoenix, Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Jillian Hall and Candice Michelle will take on Victoria, Michelle McCool, Natalya Neidhart, Maryse and Maria in a Survivor Series match.
Well now we might get to see some dream face offs.
Maybe Victoria and Beth Phoenix will finally go at it.
Just based on raw wrestling ability, the RAW and Smackdown sides seem fairly evenly balanced.
On the Raw side you have Beth Phoenix, Mickie James and Jillian Hall that can really wrestle.
And on the Smackdown side you have Victoria and Natalya Neidhart.
Of course I imagine the dream match up will be WWE Women's Champion Beth Phoenix in the ring with WWE Divas Champion Michelle McCool.
I'm just glad this will be a real match and not a pillow fight or Super Soaker match.

For more info on Victoria and Michelle McCool, check out

TNA Turning Point, TNA Knockout Tag Match

TNA Turning Point, TNA Knockout Tag Match

Last night at TNA Turning Point, they had a Knockout Tag Team Match with Awesome Kong and Raisha Saeed wrestling Taylor Wilde and Roxxi.
Pretty solid match. But then again, what would you expect with these three ladies in the ring.
As I have been pointing out over at my TNA Knockout HubPage (unabashed plug here) most of the TNA Knockouts have very strong wrestling backgrounds.
These aren't bikini models here, these are wrestlers. Just in this match you have ladies that have graced the wrestling ring not only with SHIMMER and Ring of Honor here, but also the rings in Japan and Mexico.
Anyway, Taylor Wilde and Roxxi took the win last night after Wilde hit her bridging suplex on Raisha Saeed.

WWE Divas Champion, Michelle McCool

Danielle Rouleau seemed a little upset that Michelle McCool didn't make the ranks last month.
Since my readers are what I do this for....here's WWE Divas Champion, Michelle!
Maybe her status as the champ will help boost her ratings this month.

BTW, Danielle is an up and coming NPC figure competitor, you can check out her blog here: http://daniellerouleau.blogspot.com/, go by and say hello!
I used to hang out with some fitness competitors and I know how hard the lifestyle is. Let her know it's appreciated!

WWE SummerSlam, Mickie James, Beth Phoenix

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Last night at the WWE SummerSlam, Kofi Kingston and Mickie James took on Beth Phoenix and Santino Marella in a Winners Take All Tag Team Match.
Well Beth and Santino won.
Not really the way I'd like to see the Womens Wrestling Championship change hands, but I'm glad that Beth won.
No I'm not going off on a " Mickie James, Beth Phoenix, Melina, Katie and Victoria" are the best women wrestlers the WWE has" rant again.
But if anyone got the belt, I'm glad it was someone like Beth.

WWE Diva Rocha new OVW Women's Wrestling Champion

At the recent OVW TV tapings, WWE Diva Rocha defeated Serena, Melody, Josie, Katie Lea, and ODB to win the OVW Women's Wrestling Championship belt.
This could be setting the stage for ODB to debut for TNA at Bound for Glory in the Women's Gauntlet match for the TNA Women's Wrestling title.
It also gives OVW one incredibly hot Women's Champion.
