Female Wrestling Updates: Christy Hemme, Angelina Love, Velvet Sky and More

At this Sunday's TNA Hard Justice PPV, there will be a TNA Knockouts Championship Match with Angelina Love (withVelvet Sky) facing ODB (withCody Deaner).
Is ODB finally gonna get some gold?

Anyway, speaking of TNA, on last nights TNA iMPACT, they had two Knockout Matches.

The first match was the returning Christy Hemme against Sojournor Bolt.
Not a bad match, with Christy coming out on top.

The second match was ODB with Cody Deaner facing Awesome Kong with Raisha Saeed, facing Tara, facing Angelina Love with Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne.
Tara won the match in a kind of hectic finish.
Tara took a hard bump on the concrete, but according to her MySpace page, she's okay.

MiamiHerald.com has an interview with Debra Miceli (Madusa, Alundra Blaze) that you can see here:

TNA Knockout News and Amy Dumas (Lita)

Besides all the Victory Road news, a rumor coming out of TNA is that Traci Brooks (Is she still the Knockout Law?) and Christy Hemme will both be returning for this weeks taping.
And also rumored to appear is Japanese star, Ayako Hamada.

Traci and Christy coming back, Sarita and Ayako debuting right behind each other....
Is TNA set to knockout (sorry) the other wrestling promotion's women's division?

And there is another rumor surfacing that former TNA Knockout Karen Angle is living with.....Jeff Jarret?
Talk about an uncomfortable working situation with Jarret being so high up in TNA and Kurt Angle working for them.
Of course this is ONLY a rumor.

Change The Record.net has an interview up with Lita (Okay, enough time has passed...it's Amy Dumas now).
The cool thing to me is that Amy talks about why she wasn't at Wrestlemania.

Faye: Were you invited to take part in the 25-Diva Battle Royal at WrestleMania 25, this year? If so, why did you turn it down?
Amy: Did you see that match?!
Faye: Yeah, it was so bad!
Amy: Right, that’s why I turned it down.

You can read the interview and understand why I like the way Amy thinks here:

The Lone TNA Knockout last month, Christy Hemme

Christy Hemme was the lone TNA addition to the top ten womens wrestlers from last month.
So why are the WWE Divas so dominant?
Better PR?
Well considering most of the women wrestlers on the list aren't actually wrestling anymore, technically out of CURRENT wrestlers, TNA might rank higher.
The WWE Divas are more " pin-up" and the TNA Knockouts are more wrestling. It's just the way the WWE and TNA promotes it's female wrestlers.
But will that change if Gail Kim does go to the WWE?
Will the WWE become more serious with its womens division?

Last months top ten in female wrestling

Here's a list of last months top ten in female wrestling.....

1. Trish Stratus
Not even wrestling anymore.

2. Candice Michelle
Still out with injury.

3. Melina
Again, out with an injury.

4. Torrie Wilson
Again...not wrestling anymore. Though I have heard some rumors about appearances at Indy events.....

5.Mickie James
FINALLY! Yes still actually wrestling.

And the rest.......

6. Stacy Keibler
Not wrestling, but I bet her appearance at Comic Con had something to do with this.
7. Ashley Massaro
GEEZ! NOT WRESTLING! Maybe I should call this blog " The Beautiful Women that USED to Wrestle"!
8. Stephanie McMahon
Okay, not actually wrestling, but I think the birth of the baby had a lot to do with this.
9. Maria Kanellis
YES! She's actually wrestling!
10. Christy Hemme
The lone TNA Wrestling entry! And yes, she IS wrestling!

Lots of TNA Knockouts tonight on TNA

Most of the members of the TNA Knockouts roster will be in action this Thursday night.
Gail Kim, ODB, Christy Hemme , Rhaka Khan, Velvet Sky, Angelina Love, Salinas, Jacqueline and Roxxi Laveaux are all scheduled to appear.
No Ms.Brooks?
Jim Cornette will be having a meeting with all the TNA Knockouts beforehand, so the match must be something special.

BTW, have you noticed that the Knockouts seem to have less injuries than the WWE Divas?
Maybe the wrestling schedule, or maybe because most, if not all these ladies, came into TNA knowing how to wrestle?

Gail Kim and Jackie Moore on TNA iMPACT

Last night on TNA iMPACT, Gail Kim took on Jackie Moore, with Gail emerging victorious after Gail hit a reverse neckbreaker on Moore for the pin
After the match , Christy Hemme and Roxxi Laveaux ran in and all 3 tried to beat down Gail. Gail rolled out of the ring, and then the 3 remaining wrestlers attacked each other.
I guess this establishes Christy, Roxxi and Jackie as heels.

TNA Knockouts at the iMPACT Tapings......

Amazing Kong, Angel Williams, Talia Madison and ODB were all at the recent TNA iMPACT! tapings.
Kong had a match with Gail Kim, and the rest were at ringside.
Ms. Brooks and Shelly "Ariel" Martinez weren't at the match, but Ms. Brooks has her own storyline going on, and they appear to be saving Shelly for a big debut at the Knockouts Gauntlet match at next month's pay-per-view.
Now what about Christy Hemme and Jacqueline Moore?

More News on TNA's 10-women gauntlet match at Bound For Glory

The ladies we already know and are probably a lock are Christy Hemme, Gail Kim, Ms. Brooks, Jackie Moore and Roxxi Laveaux ( Nikki Roxx).
Probables are Talia Madison, Shelly "Ariel" Martinez, ODB , Angel Williams and Amazing Kong.
Actually, according to WrestleZone .com, Talia Madison and Shelly Martinez have been confirmed to appear in the match.
Other names under consideration are April Hunter, Sarah Stock ( Dark Angel in CMLL) and So Cal Val.
The gauntlet match is going to be a "tryout match" for the five uncontracted ladies. So we can really look forward to the five ladies to REALLY put on a good show.
I really wonder how WWE will respond to this. If at all. Bringing in Indy talent may be their only hope.

The Bikini Bash Battle Royale

A lot of times the WWE winds up with the Divas bikini wrestling.
Usually it's an " accident" ( Like the beginning of the Victoria / Christy Hemme feud), but recently it was intentional.......

The Bikini Bash Battle Royale:

" This wasn't terrible and it gave some of the Divas a chance to show a few moves, but it just took way too much time. When every Diva gets a full ring entrance, it really takes up time and then the match itself goes on longer than it probably should. I guess it was only 6 minutes long, but it seemed like much longer. I was actually distracted being worried that the Divas were going to slip and hurt themselves with all of the water in the ring. They tried to have a sexy water fight while at the same time a real Battle Royale. And it just didn't work. Why not just have a sexy water fight without the Battle Royale where they were clearly trying to elevate Michelle McCool. That would be o.k., but not in his type of match. As it was, it was mostly just a sloppy mess."

Sunday, June 03, 2007By PAT CAHILLpcahill@repub.com

And now for something completely different.

For eight years, women of all ages from all over Western Massachusetts have responded with enthusiasm to the popular series of evening entertainment called "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," presented by The Republican.

Fair to guys? Maybe not. So this Saturday The Republican goes fair and balanced with a new series called "Just the Guys."

The first event in the series, replete with sweat and muscle, is called "Just the Guys: Wrestling." It will be held at the Springfield Boys and Girls Club, 481 Carew St.

"Wrestling" will feature about 20 muscle-bound gladiators in eight matches.

The headliners include guys named Brother Runt, Brutus Beefcake and Abyss, all professional wrestlers with big followings.

Also in the show will be Playboy playmate Christy Hemme, a wrestler on Total Nonstop Action on Spike TV, the same company that handles Messrs. Runt and Abyss.

TNA: Christy Hemme, part 2

With her feud with Victoria over, Hemme briefly aligned herself with Eugene before she and Stacy Keibler were traded to SmackDown! in exchange for Candice Michelle and Torrie Wilson on August 25, 2005, with their first match being a lingerie pillow fight with one another.

Hemme went on to feud with Melina, the leader of the MNM faction, in the process joining forces with the Legion of Doom. At No Mercy 2005 on October 9, 2005, Hemme and the Legion of Doom defeated MNM in a six-person intergender tag team wrestling match, with Hemme executing the signature finishing maneuver of the Legion of Doom, the "Doomsday Device", on Melina. Her feud with Melina continued into November, when Melina defeated Hemme in a televised singles bout.

On November 30, 2005, Hemme debuted in Ohio Valley Wrestling, a WWE developmental territory, aligning herself with Matt Cappotelli in opposition to Aaron Stevens, Beth Phoenix and Shelly Martinez. While in OVW, she used the song "Pour Some Sugar on Me" by Def Leppard as her entrance music. In December Hemme announced on her website that she would be training full-time in OVW. She was released by WWE one day later, however, with the company citing the creative team having nothing for her as the reason for her dismissal.

Hemme debuted in TNA Wrestling on April 23, 2006 at Lockdown 2006, giving an envelope to commentator Mike Tenay containing the announcement that Larry Zbyszko had been placed on probation and Raven had been reinstated. In addition to her hosting role on TNA iMPACT!, she is also the co-host of the Internet show TNA Global iMPACT! with Jeremy Borash. At TNA Hardcore War, Hemme refereed a match between Traci and Gail Kim. In July 2006, she was featured on Spike TV's Women of Action special.

TNA: Christy Hemme, part 1

Born and raised in Temecula, CA,Christy Hemme is a hot! hot! hot! red-headed, vivacious, little bundle of sexuality, who was the winner of the first ever WWE Diva Search contest in September 2004. Due to her popularity with WWE fans/voters, she beat out 9 other fine looking women for a WWE contract and $250,000! (OWOW picked her to win from week one and made more than one or two phone calls to vote!)

Asked in an interview if she would rather be a manager/valet or a wrestler Christy replied "I would like to be put were I am most needed. I can see myself doing both, and I am interested in learning everything about the business. But man it would be a lot of fun to get in the ring and kick some butt!"

Discussing her Man Show TV stint Christy has said "The Man Show was a wonderful introduction to me for TV. It was great preperation for this show because it combined improv, silliness, being sexy, and just plain having fun! I love to work in an atmosphere that requires a group effort."

Besides her career highlights above she has also appeared in several music videos including Trace Atkins Crome video, Sonic's dance video, Blink 182's video, and Sugar Rays Snow adventure in Big Bear CA.

Hemme began her WWE career as a member of the RAW roster, using the song "Walk Idiot Walk" by The Hives as her entrance music. She quickly began a feud with Carmella DeCesare, the runner-up of the Diva Search. The feud culminated in a "lingerie pillow fight" at Taboo Tuesday 2004 on October 19, 2004, with Hemme defeating her opponent by knock-out. Hemme was undefeated in the Lingerie Pillow Fight during her WWE tenure.

Following her feud with DeCesare, Hemme began a rivalry with WWE Women's Champion Trish Stratus, with Stratus ostensibly scornful of Hemme's appearance in the April 2005 issue of Playboy. Hemme eventually challenged Stratus to a match at WrestleMania 21, with Stratus's nemesis Lita training her in the weeks preceding the event. At WrestleMania 21 on April 3, 2005, Stratus defeated Hemme to retain her title. In the months after WrestleMania, Hemme began another feud with Victoria, who claimed to be jealous of the opportunities afforded to Hemme. The feud culminated in a bout at Vengeance 2005 on June 26, 2005, which was won by Victoria.
