WWE Diva Layla El Retires

The WWE announced today that after nine years with the promotion, Layla El is retiring.
I'm gonna miss the Diva that I have always thought was one of the most beautiful women to step into a WWE ring.

Do you know that WWE Diva Layla El has been with the WWE since 2006?
That's a pretty long time for a Diva anymore.
She started out in the 2006 WWE Diva Search along with Milena Roucka (Rosa Mendes) and Maryse Ouellet.

WWE Diva Layla is a Valet Now

WWE Diva Layla El who has been the WWE Divas Champion and the WWE Women's Champion is now the valet of Fandango.
Hey, she's only been with the WWE since 2006 and can actually wrestle.
Why not just make her eye-candy.

Layla El - Heel Again

Well, well, well....look who just turned heel again.
Yep, on the August 2nd episode of SmackDown Layla El came down with Kaitlyn to cheer her on in a match against WWE Divas champion AJ Lee.
But guess what?
Layla turned heel and betrayed AJ.
Of course this is really no surprise since The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Layla would turn heel way back on July 11th, 2013.
And I like Layla much better as a heel anyway.
Is it wrong that I like most of the Divas as Heels?

So how many times is this that Layla has turned?
I don't know...I kinda lost track.
Maybe someone should create a "Heel Turn" website.

She was a great heel with Michelle McCool as LayCool and before that when she was managing William Regal.
But what's her end game here?
Is she gonna get into AJ's good graces then turn on her?
Maybe she looked at Kaitlyn as her only rival and decided this was the best way to eliminate her and position herself for a WWE Divas title shot.
Maybe I am giving the WWE writers way too much credit.
With fourteen ladies on the WWE Diva roster now, if done right, this could be interesting....

Layla El Returns!

On March 22nd, 2012 in a match at FCW (Florida Championship Wrestling), Layla El returned to the ring.
I wondered how long it was gonna take her to get back up to the "Big Leagues" and it wasn't long as she replaced Beth Phoenix in a match for the WWE Divas Championship at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view on April 29th.

That night she took on and defeated Nikki Bella to win the WWE Divas Championship.
The next night on Raw, she took on the departing Bella Twins in a triple threat match and retained the title.

Layla has quite a bit of WWE championship history as she is the first British woman to hold the championship, the first Diva Search winner to win the championship, and the last recognized WWE Women's Champion before they retired that belt.

WWE Diva Layla hasn't really done much lately except hang around William Regal.
And did they drop the "Layla London" gimmick?
I noticed on her page at WWE.com she's referred to as Layla and Layla El.
Outside of the wrestling ring, Layla, along with Beth Phoenix and Candice Michelle, appeared in the February 2009 issue of FLEX Magazine.
And I still say Layla is one of the prettiest WWE divas out there.
I just wish they'd get her some more training and get her in the ring more.
Yes I know if all the Divas actually wrestled each week they wouldn't have time for anything else.
Or the WWE would have to create another show just for all the divas, kinda like "WWE GLOW".
Which I would have no problem with......

WWE Diva..... Layla London?

Well it's pretty much known now that the lovely WWE Diva Layla El will be known from now on as Layla London.
Why?
I guess it's to fit in with the William Regal storyline.
Or maybe she'll be revealed as Paul London's long lost sister.
Or maybe it's because Layla was born in London.
Or maybe DC comics was gonna sue the WWE for infringement on "Superman/Kal-el"
Either way, I still think Layla is one of the most beautiful women in the WWE.

The newest WWE Diva, Layla, may have to cut short some of her financial comfort zone if she wants to stay on with the WWE. It is learned that if Layla plans to extend her stay with WWE, a 20% cut from her usual $250,000 salary must be made. Not pretty figures for a diva winner who is now in a bind.

Layla would do well to gather more time enhancing her career with WWE before jumping ship to explore other offers. For one thing, other companies may not pay her good money just yet considering she is not even in the caliber of Melina or Candice Michelle who have built on their character and names as part of the wrestling business.

Additionally, Layla has nothing to show other than being the latest WWE Diva winner. But many other companies would wonder what impact she would have on their companies like TNA when in fact they already have their share of pretty faces in their fold.

From what it looks at the moment, it seems the best bet is for Layla to hang on for the time being before planning a quick shift in her career. She has yet to be considered among the top divas of the WWE and acting on impulse may jeopardize her career. Who knows, 2007 may be a breakout year for Layla. After making the needed impact, her value is sure to rise. She just needs to look at other diva winners and where they are now.
