Monday Night Raw - The Bella Twins vs. Aksana and Alicia Fox

On Monday Night Raw this past Monday we got two and a half Diva matches.
The half match was Summer Rae and Fandango vs. Emma and Santino Marella and the full match was the Bella Twins vs. Aksana and Alicia Fox aka "Foxsana".
Standard Diva match, which is kinda sad considering how well the WWE Diva bouts were for the most part last week.

Alicia Fox - The Bella Twins - WW

Do you know that Alicia Fox has been with the WWE for almost eight years now?
She should be WAY better than she is.

The Bella twins - Alicia Fox - WWE

Anyway, like I said, pretty standard back and forth match with Nikki hitting the "Rack Attack" for the win.
It's matches like this that keep me from getting really excited about the Diva's division

WWE Main Event Results - Alicia Fox and Aksana vs Eva Marie and Natalya

The WWE had some great women's matches this week.
Well most of them were....

Natalya, Eva Marie, female wrestling, women of wrestling

This match was on WWE Main Event and it really wasn’t much to look at.
Alicia Fox and Aksana aka "Foxsana" took on Eva Marie and Natalya.
You know...it wasn’t that long ago Eva was a Heel.
When did that change?
Heck....I have no idea.

It was a pretty standard match with Foxsana winning after Natalya tried to get the Sharpshooter on Aksana, she kicked out, Nat hit Eva and that set her up for Aksana to nail her with the "Divo Drop".
Making your partner get pinned, even by accident, is one of the quickest ways back to Heel territory.
So expect Eva back there soon.

Aksana, Eva Marie, female wrestling, women of wrestling

The only real wrestling action we saw was when Natalya got the "Hot Tag" from Eva and she came in wide open and....wrestled!

It's a shame really.
These women are all beautiful and if she could get it together, Eva could be the next Kelly Kelly.
Not a hugely competent wrestler, but better than she is now.
And believe it or not I really WANT her to succeed.

Emma Vs Summer Rae - WWE Raw

Is it just me or are the WWE Diva matches actually getting better?
Case in point, Emma vs Summer Rae on WWE Monday Night Raw.

Although Emma won...Summer REALLY showed that she had the "Heel" technique down pat.
She was talking constant smack through the whole match (which she pretty much dominated until the end) in a way that would make former WWE Diva Maryse proud.
Maryse is one of the best WWE Diva "junk talkers" I can remember in a while, and Summer Rae may be a worthy successor.
One of my favorite parts was when she was punishing Emma and yelling at Santino at ringside, asking him if he thought Emma was cute now.
That's pure female Heel gold right there.

If she keeps this up, Summer may get top Heel billing before very long.

Emma was good in her role as well, which was almost "jobbing" to Summer Rae.
She pulled out the win by getting Summer in the "Emma Lock" which is actually an inverted Indian deathlock facelock aka the "Muta Lock" which was created by the great Japanese wrestler Keiji Mutoh, aka The Great Muta.
You probably really didn't need to know all that but I told you anyway.....
It's kinda nice to see Divas using actual submission holds.

But though Emma won with a submission hold, if you live by the sword....you die by the sword...as she would find out later in the week.....

WWE Diva Aksana - Female Wrestling

Well she's been in the WWE for a few years now.
Are they ever gonna do anything with WWE Diva Aksana?
"Foxsana" is a start, but they could do so much more....

NXT Diva Paige

I know it seems like I am more into the NXT Divas these days than the WWE Divas.
And That's because I pretty much am.
They released Audrey Marie a bit ago and I still think that was a mistake.
Summer Rae seems to be moving up to the "Big Leagues" quite quickly hanging out with Fandango, so I am still waiting for Paige to hit Raw and SmackDown.

She's got the moves, the look, the ability...so why not?
In 2012, Diva-Dirt named her the NXT Diva of the Year and Pro Wrestling Illustrated ranked her #30 of the best 50 female singles wrestlers in the PWI Female 50 in 2012.

Recently Paige defeated Tamina and advanced to the semi-finals in the NXT women's championship tournament, so if she gets the belt, I doubt she will move up any time soon.

Maybe the WWE just wants to season her a bit more before moving her up.
Or maybe they just like to annoy me......

WWE Divas AJ Lee and Kaitlyn

I haven't mentioned AJ Lee on here in quite a while, so here she is, along with Kaitlyn.
Have you noticed that all of the WWE female wrestlers seem to be caught up in storylines where the man is the reason they do everything?
We had Eve and Zack Ryder (though they did nicely flip that), Maxine/Derrick Bateman/Johnny Curtis, Beth Phoenix/Santino Marella, Kelly/About Half The WWE Roster...
It seems the WWE writers either really like romance...are are convinced a woman is nothing without a man.

wwe, wwe divas, female wrestling, women wrestling, wrestling women

So now AJ's "personal transformation" is because of Daniel Bryan.
It gets kinda old.
Of course AJ formed The Chickbusters with Kaitlyn, but now that's just fodder for the AJ/Bryan romantic angle.

Check out the guns on Kaitlyn! I forget at times she was a fitness model before the WWE

WWE Divas Championship Match, Michelle McCool versus Natalya

WWE Divas Championship Match, Michelle McCool versus Natalya

At the WWE Great American Bash Sunday night, they had a WWE Divas Championship Match, pitting Michelle McCool against Natalya.
The WWE Divas Championship is the Smackdown! version of the Womens wrestling title.

Michelle gained the victory with a heel hook (a leg lock affecting multiple joints, applied by twisting the foot either medially or laterally).
So the new WWE Divas Champion is Michelle McCool.

WWE RAW: Mickie James and Jillian Hall

Last night on WWE RAW the women's match was Mickie James and Jillian Hall.
The surprising thing to me was Jillian got a pretty clean win with a full nelson face buster. Yes, a heel with a clean win over a face. And it was quick too, blink and you would have missed it.

And the creepy look Jillian gave Lilian after the match........

Katarina Waters / Nikita / Katie Lea

Katarina Waters (born November 10, 1977) is a female professional wrestler from the United Kingdom better known by her ring name, Nikita. She is currently signed by World Wrestling Entertainment, where she is assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling and wrestles under the ring name Katie Lea.

Outside of wrestling, Waters has started acting, doing scenes for a British independent action movie by Utopian Pictures called Tough Justice. Nikita plays Agent Milan in the film.

In late 1999, Nikita began training with the Kent-based promotion NWA-UK Hammerlock after she had searched for a school on the Internet. Working at that British territory of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) allowed Nikita to participate in the ITV Meridian show Trans-Atlantic Wrestling Challenge, which was a British vs. American tournament held on January 4, 2000 in the UK for British television, featuring wrestlers from various NWA promotions. During the show, Nikita won its Women's Championship Cup.

Nikita went on to wrestle for promotions all over the world. One highlight came when she wrestled Sherri Martel at an NAWA show in Germany, but her biggest exposure came back in England, where she began wrestling for the Frontier Wrestling Alliance (FWA) in 2002.

While in FWA she met with a young up-and-coming FWA star, Hade Vansen, someone she would tag team with on occasion. She also faced off in feuds with Sweet Saraya, who entered the FWA rather unceremoniously when she attacked Nikita from behind while she was supposed to be guest announcing. She also feuded with Paul Travell and The Family.

In 2004, she left FWA due to personal reasons, and took a little time out.

In 2005, she reappeared on the UK wrestling scene, and went on to compete around Europe. She became France's Queens of Chaos Women's Champion, which earned her the moniker "Queen of Chaos". During this time she also made appearances for Italy's Nu-Wrestling Evolution in matches against Vanessa Harding.

In early 2006 Nikita came back to the FWA, and went on to help her former tag partner "The South City Thriller" Hade Vansen pin Joe Legend to win The Champions Series Final at New Frontiers on February 5. Vansen took Alex Shane’s FWA British Heavyweight Championship in this five-way main event, which, aside from Vansen, Shane and Legend, also featured "The Phoenix" Jody Fleisch and "The Wonderkid" Jonny Storm.

Katrina Waters signed a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) during May 2006, following tryouts at a WWE UK TV taping. She left the UK for the United States the following month, but first handed in her Queens of Chaos Championship, after first retaining it, in her last European independent match, on May 8th.

Katarina Waters joined WWE's Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) developmental promotion, making her OVW debut on August 23, 2006 at an OVW TV taping under the new name Katie Lea defeating Melody in a dark match. Waters, as Lea, continued training in OVW throughout 2006, feuding with OVW divas Beth Phoenix, ODB and Serena.

At the November 1, 2006 OVW TV tapings, Katie Lea defeated Beth Phoenix, Ariel, Roni Jonah, Melody, Jenny Mae, ODB and Serena in a 8-Woman Gauntlet match to capture the OVW Women's Championship. Lea defended her title against Beth Phoenix in the 1st Ladies Ladder Match in OVW History. Katie lost her OVW Women's Title to ODB on June 2, 2007 at a Six Flags OVW Event.

Torrie Wilson, Ashley Massaro and China

It appears the reason Torrie Wilson was moved from WWE RAW to WWE Smackdown is because Ashley Massaro is going to Survivor: China.

I wondered how the WWE would let this happen, but according to Pro Wrestling Insider:
" According to Dave Meltzer, CBS contacted WWE and asked them to send them someone that would make a good television character. With WWE already being low on male talent, it was obvious that they would send a diva. Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn both felt pretty strong about giving Ashley the role, especially Dunn. Ashley is not expected back on WWE television until the end of the year and that is why she was “suspended” from SmackDown."

WWE Divas - Sable Part 3

Sable, wwe, wwe divas, female wrestling, women wrestling, wrestling women, women of wrestling

On November 13, 2001 and November 14, 2001, she appeared as the on-air "CEO" of the newly formed XWF, but these would be her only appearances with the company. In 2003, she announced that she and Marc Mero were getting divorced. Despite this, she continues to publicly use Mero as her surname.

Rena returned to the World Wrestling Federation (now known as World Wrestling Entertainment) on the April 3, 2003 episode of SmackDown!, reprising her role as Sable. Sable continued as a heel and spent several months in a storyline with new Playboy covergirl Torrie Wilson. Sable would follow Torrie down to her matches, talk with her backstage, and on one occasion she left Torrie in a tag match alone to fend for herself. Sable eventually challenged Torrie to a showdown bikini contest at Judgment Day 2003. After Sable got the bigger applause, Torrie removed another layer of clothing, and Special Guest Referee Tazz declared Torrie the winner. After the match, Torrie went up to Sable and kissed her before exiting the ring. Sable had a brief feud with the guest judge Tazz, dumping water on him on the following edition of Smackdown, as a means of gaining revenge for declaring Wilson the winner.

Sable then feuded with Stephanie McMahon in a storyline where she was Vince McMahon's mistress. Vince appointed Sable as Stephanie McMahon's personal assistant against Stephanie's will, sparking the feud between the duo. During the feud, they competed in several catfights, a food fight, a parking lot brawl, and a match where Sable bashed a clipboard over Stephanie's head. At Vengeance 2003, Sable defeated Stephanie after an interference by her new ally, A-Train. At SummerSlam, Sable accompanied A-Train in his match against The Undertaker, which he lost. After the match, The Undertaker held Sable so that Stephanie could use a Spear attack on her. After Summerslam, Mr. McMahon and Sable focused on getting rid of Stephanie for good, so Vince made an "I Quit" match at No Mercy 2003. In the match, Sable slapped Stephanie and was attacked by Linda McMahon. She also handed Vince the lead pipe that he used to choke Stephanie out for the win.

Sable briefly became a face again when she appeared on the cover of Playboy magazine for the third time in her career. On the cover, she appeared with fellow diva Torrie Wilson, making them the first WWE Divas to pose in Playboy together. Surrounding the release of the cover, the duo feuded with RAW divas Stacy Keibler and Miss Jackie, even though all four women were faces at the time. The two teams squared off at WrestleMania XX in an Interpromotional Tag Team Evening Gown match, but the divas started the match in their underwear, making it more of a lingerie match. The change was rumored to have occurred because Sable had suffered damage to her breast.

Following WrestleMania XX, Sable quickly turned heel again and engaged in another short feud with Wilson. The feud culminated in a match at the Great American Bash 2004, which Sable won. Sable's final appearance in WWE would be on SmackDown! when she, Dawn Marie and Torrie Wilson accompanied Eddie Guerrero to the ring in his lowrider. On August 10, 2004, WWE's official website announced that Rena Mero and WWE had parted ways.

Mero, along with Brock Lesnar, appeared at several New Japan Pro Wrestling shows since her WWE release. After Rena and Marc Mero became officially divorced in 2004, she began dating Brock Lesnar whom she became engaged to later that year. The engagement was called off in early 2005, but they were engaged again in January 2006. The two married in May 2006, but later divorced in August of the same year.

"It should also be noted that the interview confirmed that he ( Lesnar) is now divorced from former WWE Diva Rena “Sable” Mero. Lesnar will make his MMA debut on June 2nd in Los Angeles. "

WWE Divas - Sable, Part 2

Sable and Jacqueline had a match for the newly reinstated WWF Women's Title on the September 21, 1998 edition of Monday Night RAW.
Jacqueline claimed the title after Marc Mero interfered in the match on her behalf.
However, on November 15, 1998 at the Survivor Series 1998 ppv, Sable won the title from Jacqueline after powerbombing both Marc and Jacqueline during the match.
During this time, Rena had a guest appearance on an episode of the USA Network show Pacific Blue.
Sable then entered a brief storyline where she was forced to play a subservient role to Vince and Shane McMahon, but the storyline did not progress very far.

Sable holds the record for most diva match wins in 1998, ahead of both Luna Vachon and Jacqueline.

In 1999, Sable was attacked by a masked woman named Spider Lady, who turned out to be Luna. Sable defeated Luna in a Strap Match at the Royal Rumble 1999 after an assist from a female Sable fan, who turned out to be WWF newcomer Tori. Tori's debut would signify a change in Sable's persona.

After the Royal Rumble, Rena (under her Sable ring name) was featured as the cover girl for the April 1999 issue of Playboy. The issue was the hottest selling issue of Playboy in 15 years. Surrounding the release of the issue, the Sable character turned heel by "going Hollywood" and having an inflated ego. Rarely defending her title, Sable continually berated her fan Tori, and she feuded with both Tori and Luna Vachon (who had turned face). She debuted a new catch phrase: "This is for all the women who want to be me and all the men who come to see me" and a dance move called "the grind". The feud with Tori lead to a match at WrestleMania XV. During the contest, Nicole Bass debuted as Sable's bodyguard and helped Sable win the match.

Sable went on with Nicole Bass making Bass do all of her dirty work. Sable continued to hold the championship for over five months now, but on May 10, 1999, Debra "won" the Women's Championship from Sable in an Evening Gown Match. Normally in an Evening Gown Match, the winner is the woman who forcibly removes her opponent's dress, which Sable did. However, kayfabe WWF Commissioner Shawn Michaels ruled that the woman who had lost her dress was the winner, making Debra the new Women's Champion. With this, Sable became the first woman to lose a title without losing it by pinfall or submission.

In June 1999, Rena Mero quit WWF and filed a $110 million lawsuit against the company, citing allegations of sexual harassment and unsafe working conditions as her reasoning. During the course of the lawsuit, Vince McMahon counter-sued Rena over WWF licensing of the name Sable. Mero reduced her settlement figure and eventually settled out of court. Subsequently, her husband Marc was released from his WWF contract. Rena Mero used her real name for her appearance in September 1999's issue of Playboy. After her WWF exit, she made an on-camera appearance as an audience member on World Championship Wrestling's WCW Monday Nitro, but was contractually forbidden from working for WCW, although she stated that she wanted to work there.

During this time, Rena made appearances on The Howard Stern Show and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. She also made appearances on television shows such as Relic Hunter (Tia Carrere v. Sable catfight! )and First Wave and in the film Corky Romano as a female bouncer. She released her autobiography, entitled Undefeated in August 2000.She also released a comic book entitled The 10th Muse starring herself as a superhero. She was signed on to star in the film Doppleganger 224, but the film was cancelled for monetary reasons.
